Something keeps changing the Winsock settings on my computer. How do I locate the problem?

I can be on the net and checking my emails, and the next thing I know, Windows Internet Explorer says it cannot display the web page. I do a Network Diagnostic to check my connectivity, and my WINSOCK settings have been changed. The Network Diagnostic can reset them to default, but I have to do a restart every time. This happens a lot. Can anyone tell me how to isolate the problem and fix it. I have run a full system scan by my security system, Windows Live OneCare, and there are no problems detectable. HELP!

If you've got wnidows XP you could try installing Windows Defender. if you've got Vista you already have it.

It monitors system settings, and may tell you when your winsock settings are changed, and by what.

To monitor all applications you need to change your spynet settings to "join with advanced membership" in windows defender.

BTW; OneCare is pretty useless. Suggest something else like NOD32.

You haven't said with OS you're using, so I will assume that it's XP.

For a fix using Xp, go here: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfi...
