Can you have 2 different kinds of firewalls installed on computer?

I have lavasoft firewall. however, i realize that my subscription to mcafee security center is still valid. Mcafee security center has built in firewall. If i knew that, i wouldn't have purchased the lavasoft firewall.

Is it possible that i can have both mcafee and lavasoft firewall working together?

Or would i have to disable one of the firewalls, if both are installed?

It's not advisable to have 2 firewalls running on the same system because of conflicts (especially with rules based firewall protection). Also, it would be a load on system resources. There isn't any real need to run 2 anyway if the one you have is set up correctly and monitors both incoming and outgoing connections.

I am pretty sure you can have both at once. I have the Microsoft one and two other security programs both with firewalls and nothing bad has happened.

yes u can, but what your describing isnt 2 kinds of firewalls. they are 2 software firewalls, which u can have, they just have to figure out who goes first. its not smart trying it cause it could make it so you can't access the internet, due to the two of them blocking each other from the internet and therefore not allowing each other to scan incomming internet, therefore you dont get your internet.
Use only one software firewall. However, a hardware and a software firewall is OK, in fact is a prefered configuration.
