Ive got Mcafee security center that came preinstalled on my Dell and I dont really like it.

Well, all antivirus software does slow down the computer a bit, but its not worth the risk to uninstall the antivirus for the little performance jump.

Mcafee doesn't hog the system as much as nortan. So, i will say keep it.

Trust me, you'd rather have a good process slowing your computer. Much better than having a virus that slows your PC.
yes, all anti-virus software does.

especially ones with firewalls.

it uses systems ram and some uses it for monitoring.

from my experience the program that uses the least system resources is avg anti-virus, its effective and free.

yes mcafee is slow down your computer performance, because it's use many resource. so you must add more ram to your computer.

You want a faster computer of a secure computer?
Get a techo to configure it up for you. Unless you're a mad gamer or video editing freak, you can configure them so you don't notice them running. No you won't need more hardware (unless you don't have enough memory now).
