How can I have my imac start with a login page for security?

This is my first mac. It's a recently bought imac G5. When I turn on the computer it just opens to my desktop. I'd really like a way in which it would open to a login page so not just anybody could turn on my computer and access my files.

Yes.

System Preferences %26gt; Accounts

Select your account on the side

Click "Login Options" on the bottom (may require unlocking)

Uncheck "Automatically log in as ..."

This will start you up with the login screen, and as long as you have a password on your account, you will be prompted for it each time you log in.
