Does Netgear over-riding my own network connection mean that my security is at risk?

Each time I switch on my laptop I am connected through Netgear and not BT which is my provider. It is coming in with a strong signal and I have to change to BT. Why is it over-riding BT and what can I do about it. My computer has started to run very slow.

In the advanced properties of the wireless card change the order of preference, moving BT before Netgear. That will ensure that you are hitting BT first. Also you may want to download and run Windows Defender in case you caught any spyware from the other network.
